Solution: We have ,

\ Rightarrow LHS =cos^2x+ 1/(1+cot^2x) \ \

We know , 

\ Rightarrow 1 +cot^2x=cosec^2x

\ Rightarrow cos^2x+1/cosec^2x \ \ Rightarrow cos^2x+sin^2x=1
