Let - Number of children = $x$ , number of adults = $a$ , total chocolates distributed = $y$

Given- Each child gets 6 chocolates - total chocolates for children = $6x$

Each adult gets 10 chocolates - total chocolates for adults = $10a$

Equation formed- ${y = 6x + 10a}$

As the total number of chocolates = 46

${46 = 6x + 10a}$
Now assume $a = 1$
$6x+10(1)=46⇒6x=36⇒x=6$

Therefore, linear equation formed $6x + 10a = 46$ and if $a = 1$, then $x = 6$
