Primary effluent is passed into aeration tank where vigorous growth of aerobic microbes take place, BOD reduced, effluent is passed to the setting tank where flocs sediment to produce activated sludge, sludge is pumped to anaerobic sludge digestion to digest bacteria and fungi.
