The Din-i Ilahi religion was propounded by Mughal emperor Akbar in 1582. Akbar tolerance of other faiths. He repealed the Jaziya (non-Muslim tax) over a decade earlier in 1568. He wanted to combine Islam and Hinduism in one religion.
