Show that the following points form an isosceles triangle. ( - 2, 0), (4, 0) and (1, 3)

Answers (1)

Let the given points be  A( - 2, 0), B(4, 0) and C(1, 3)

The distance AB=6

By distance formula

The distance

\\BC=\sqrt{(1-4)^2+(3-0)^2}=\sqrt{18}\\AC=\sqrt{(1-(-2))^2+(3-0)^2}=\sqrt{18}

BC=AC, So the given triangle is an isosceles triangle
