Solution: we have , 

\ (1/3)x+y=10/3 ......(1)\ \Rightarrow 2x+(1/4)y ........(2)

Multiplying by 2 in eqution (1) and (1/3) in (2)

\Rightarrow (2/3)x+2y=20/3........(3)\ \Rightarrow (2/3)x+(1/12)y=11/12......(4)

hence , y=3 and x=1
