Summary-

Kabuliwala is a fruit seller in the story who daily brings nuts, pistachio for a young girl. His do these acts to befriend the young girl so that she buys daily things from him. Also, he has a young daughter of the same age. He plays with the girls, tell her stories each time they meet. The person is from Afghanistan. His real name is Rahmat. Every time the money is paid to him. Originally, the girl' father was suspicious of Rahmat by his looks, him being a Muslim and him belonging to a lower caste.

One day he stabbed a customer who wasn't paying money to him. For this he went to jail. He came back on the girl's wedding day and reminded her of older times. This time she was very shy and reminded her of her own daughter who would be of the same age. Lastly, the girl's father anathema kabuliwala bonded over daughterly love. 

Character sketch of  kabuliwala

Kabuliwala was a kind yet smart person who knows with whom to develop relations that could benefit him monetarily and emotionally. He was a poor person who belonged from another country and his appearance shows he was from lower caste. He knows that people think bad of him as he was a Muslim and poor person and were suspicious of him. He was still able to form the bond with the girl which shows he was friendly and warm. He stabbed a customer on not giving money this shows he couldnot tolerate injustice and will fight for his money and hardwork.

He was a loving father who bonded well with his customers. He has good understanding of human relations and was able to bond other with father and his daughter.
