# The diameter of a cone 14 cm and its slant height is 9cm . Find the area of its curved surface .

Solution: We know that the area $S$ of the curved surface of a right circular cone of radius $r$  and slant height $l$ is given by

$S= \pi rl$

Here ,                           $r=\frac{14}{2}cm =7cm$  and       $l=9cm$

$\therefore$                                $S= \frac{22}{7}\times7 \times 9 cm^2= 198cm^2$
