The diameter of a garden roller is 1.4m and it is 2m long . How much area will it cover in 5 revolutions ? (use pi = 22/7 .)

Solution: Clearly ,   Area Coverd = Coverd surface $\times$ Number of revolution.

Here ,                         $r=\frac{1.4}{2}m = 0.7m$     and $h=2m.$

$\therefore$                           Curved surface $= 2\pi rh$ $m^2$

$=2\times \frac{22}{7}\times 0.7 \times 2 =8.8m^2$

Hence , Area Covered = Curved surface $\times$ No. of revolutions $=$ $(8.8\times 5)m^2= 44m^2$
