Solution:  We have , r=3cm  and  h=4cm.

              Let l cm be the slant height of the cone . Then , 

                       l^2=r^2+h^2

Rightarrow                  l^2=3^2+4^2Rightarrow l=sqrt25 cm=5cm

herefore           Area of the curved surface = pi rl

Rightarrow         Area of the curved surface 

                                                      =(frac227 imes3 imes5)cm^2 = 47.14 cm^2
