The wind blowing in the northern plains in summer is known as Loo. Loo is a strong, hot and dry summer afternoon wind from the west which blows over the western Indo-Gangetic Plain region of North India and Pakistan. Because of its extremely low humidity and high temperatures, the Loo also has a serious drying effect on plantation and agriculture leading to widespread drying in the areas affected by it during the months of May and June, the summer months.
