(3, 1), (3, 2), (3, 3), (3, 4), (3, 5), (3,6)

(4, 1), (4, 2), (4, 3), (4, 4), (4, 5), (4,6)

(5, 1), (5, 2), (5, 3), (5, 4), (5, 5), (5,6)

(6, 1), (6, 2), (6, 3), (6, 4), (6, 5), (6,6)

out of this 36 outcomes the sum is morethan 9 are {(4,6), (5,5), (5,6), (6,4), (6,5) and (6,6)}. That is 6. 

So the probability of getting a sum of more than 9 is 6/36=1/6
