Decomposers are those organisms which break down dead or decaying organisms, they carry out decomposition. For example: fungi

And in the absence of decomposer in the ecosystem:

  • dead remainings of plants and animals would keep lying and would never be returned to their original pool like soil, air and water.
  • The cycling process of life and death would be disrupted.
