Dimples are the small indentation that can be found on your cheeks. They are actually considered as a genetic defect because dimples are nothing but shortened facial muscles. So when a person smiles, the shorter muscle on the face pulls up the skin causing a dimple. They usually happens on both cheeks but a single indentation on one cheek is rare.
