Differences between the pyramid of biomass and the pyramid of energy :

1. Pyramid of biomass shows how much amount of living or organic matter present in an organism whereas, the pyramid of energy shows how much energy is retained in the form of new biomass at each trophic level.

2. Pyramid of biomass is related to the biomass of an organism whereas, pyramid of energy is related to the energy content of an organism.

3. Pyramid of biomass is constructed on the basis of biomass at any given time whereas, pyramid of energy is constructed on the basis of energy content over a period of time.

4. Rate of reproduction is not taken into consideration in the pyramid of biomass whereas, it is taken into consideration with respect to the pyramid of energy.
