The Kite Maker was written by Ruskin Bond. In which he has described  the effects of generation gap and changing patterns of life. Everyone was happy in old days. People have love, respect, sympathy for others.     When Mahmood was young, people had a lot of leisure. Kite flying was a noble past time. Everybody bought kites  from Mahmood, the kite maker. He had  a great respect throughout the ciy as an efficient kite maker. Even Nawab himself was his great admirer. But now when he grew old, all things were changed. The hectic activities of life took the place of leisure. The adults hated kite flying. Children preferred to spend their money at the movies. The great maidan was swallowed by the growing city. People had no time to gather under the banyan tree to discuss their problems and their plans.
