An IUD is a small, T-shaped device that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. It can be both copper-releasing and hormonal.

LNG-20 is a type of hormonal intrauterine device (IUD) that releases levonorgestrel which is a synthetic hormone and helps to prevent pregnancy. It works by thickening cervical mucus to block sperm and slow down their movement sometimes even stopping ovulation.

It makes the lining of the uterus thinner which makes implantation less likely. IUD is a long-term and reversible birth control option. Due to this property, they can protect for several years with minimal effort. 

There are a few copper-releasing IUDs also like Cu-T 380A, Cu-7, Multiload Cu-375, and Nova-T. These IUDs reduce the motility and viability of sperm.
