Bt poison is a natural toxin made by a bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). It is used to kill certain insect pests, especially caterpillars, beetles, and mosquitoes.

When an insect eats a plant containing Bt toxin, its digestive system is affected by the poison of Bt toxin. Due to this, it stops eating and dies eventually.

Farmers use Bt-based pesticides to protect crops without harming humans, animals, or helpful insects like bees. Scientists have also developed Bt crops like Bt cotton and Bt corn, which have the Bt gene in them.

These plants produce the toxin on their own, keeping harmful pests away and reducing the need for chemical pesticides.
