Acid + Base 
ightarrow Salt + Water

For example:

(i) Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) reacts with hydrochloric acid (HCl) to form sodium chloride (NaCl) and water:

NaOH + HCl 
ightarrow NaCl + H_2O

(ii) Magnesium hydroxide reacts with hydrochloric acid to form magnesium chloride and water:

Mg(OH)_2+2HCl 
ightarrow MgCl_2+2H_2O
