What is epigraphy
Epigraphy refers to the study of inscriptions, and especially those inscribed upon durable materials like stone, metal, or clay. Inscriptions have a tendency to carry big historical facts, such as histories of the rulers, laws, treaties, religious rituals, and social traditions. Epigraphy is also extremely important while analyzing ancient civilizations because it enables historians and archaeologists to interpret languages, date occurrences, and get insight into the past culture and politics.
