Force:-

A push or pull on a body is called force or Force is that cause which produces acceleration in the body on which it acts.

For example:- when you push a chair, it tends to move.

  • Force is a vector quantity as it has both magnitude and direction.
  • Effects of Force:- A force can produce the following effects:
  1. A force can move a stationary body or can stop a moving body.
  2. A force can change the speed of a moving body or can change the direction of a moving body.
  3.  A force can change the shape (and size) of a body.

For example:- If we kick a football kept on the ground with our foot, then football starts moving. In this case, the force of our foot moves a stationary football.

  1. The SI unit of force is called newton and its symbol is N.
