Chromosomes are the thread-like structure found in the nuclei of both animal and plant cells.The most important function of chromosomes is to carry the basic genetic material – DNA. Other than that , chromosomes are essential for the process of cell division and are responsible for the replication, division, and creation of daughter cells that contain correct sequences of DNA and proteins.
