Golgi apparatus was first described by Camillo Golgi inside the cell
Golgi apparatus are the stack of membrane bound vesicles placed parallel to each other
Sometimes the membranes of the Golgi apparatus are in continuation with the endoplasmic reticulum and the substances can be transported between them
Functions of Golgi apparatus:
Packaging the substances from the endoplasmic reticulum and transporting them to the different parts inside and outside the cell
Storage, modification and packaging of the substances
Conversion of simple sugar like glucose into complex sugar like glycogen and starch
Formation of lysosomes
