What is stomach
The stomach is a J-shaped, muscular organ between the small intestine and the esophagus. It plays a very important role in the digestion of food by mixing it with digestive juices such as hydrochloric acid and enzymes to break down the food into a semi-liquid food called chyme. The stomach contains parts such as the cardia, fundus, body, and pylorus. The stomach's lining on the inside protects the stomach from the harmful effects of the acid. Once food is partly broken down, it passes into the small intestine, where it will undergo further digestion and absorption.
