best_answer

The kinetic theory of gases explains the behavior of the gases based on the motion of their molecules. According to this theory, the particles of gas are in constant, random motion, and their interactions obey the laws of classical mechanics.

Postulates of Kinetic Theory:

  1. Collisions between molecules are purely elastic which means that there is no loss of energy.

  2. The volume of gas molecules is negligible when compared to the total volume of the gas.

  3. Molecules of the gas are in continuous and random motion.

The kinetic theory of gases correctly explains gas laws and helps in understanding the diffusion, pressure, and thermal conductivity of gases.
