Portia was the main leading character of the play' Merchant of Venice' written by William Shakespeare who was eventually going to marry Antonio's best friend Bassanio. Bassonia was a kinsman and had lent money from shylock and had not yet paid him back. Shylock was their enemy because he wanted to take revenge from Bassonia as he hated him for being a kind money lender and was ruining his business.
