Syeda Anwara Taimur was the first woman chief minister of Assam state from 6 December 1980 to 30 June 1981. She was the leader of Indian National Congress party in Assam and a member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). In the history of Assam, she was the only female and Muslim Chief Minister of the state. Currently the Chief Minister of Assam is Himanta Biswa Sarma in 2021.

Assam is a northeast state of India. It is one of the seven sisters state of India. The capital of Assam state is Guwahati. Guwahati city of Assam is called the gateway to the North-East states
