With reference to the poem 'The Inchcape Rock'  written by Robert Southery, the moral of the poem is 'As you sow, so shall you reap'. The moral of the story could be understood from the information mentioned below. 

The Ralph, the rover who was a sea- pirate was jealous of the good work and fame of Abbot. Abbot tied a bell on the dangerous rock so that it can alert the shipman from colliding into the Inchcape rock which was hidden under sea waves and could cause lot of damage. However Ralph decided to cut the bell so that he could loot the ships. However, he himself became a prey of his wrongdoing when his ship was caught up by the storm. He lost the directions and his ship collided with the rock. Thus, Ralph was punished for his wrong work.
