Biographical Sketch of Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking 's full name is Stephen William Hawking. He was born on eighth January, Nineteen Hundred Forty Two. He was born in Oxford England. He died on fourteenth March, Two Thousand Eighteen. He died in Cambridge, England at the age of seventy six.

He was a physicist and studied physics at University College, Oxford and also at Trinity College, Cambridge. He worked as a research fellow at Caius and Gonville College at Cambridge. His subjects of study were spaces and time,  black hole and mini black hole. His work mainly was in the field of general relativity. The theory of relativity and quantam mechanisms both were applicable to the study of black holes and mini black hole. 

His work and contribution earned him several awards in physics such as Copley Medal from Royal Society in 2006 and U. S. Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009.He was also honoured with many achievements such as being the youngest fellow at Royal Society. He worked as professor of physics and mathematics at Cambridge in 1977,  1979. He was made commander of the Order of the British Empire and a Companion of Honour in 1982 and 1989.

He published several books such as The Large Scale Structure of Space and Time, Supers pace and Supergravity, The Universe in the Nutshell, The Very Early Universe, A Briefer History of Time, The Grand Design, A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes and The Universe in Nutshell. 

Stephen Hawking got a severe medical problem in early 1960's when he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral scleroiss which cannot be cured. He was diagnosed with degendegener neuromuscular disease but worked despite his problems. He eventually died in 2018.
