Helen Keller's autobiography is named as "Story of my Life." Helen Keller was born as a normal child but due to acute congestion of stomach and brain, she lost her eyesight and hearing power and became blind and deaf. Helen Keller was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama on June, twenty seven, Eighteen Hundred and Eighty.

Helen's father Arthur H. Keller was a captain in the army. Helen Keller's family was quite rich and they had large ancestral property which contains a homestead and a neighbouring outhouse. Slowly, she learned sign language to convey words such as no, yes, come and go. She went to numerous doctors, however the  most notable consultation was with Dr. Alexander Graham Bell who understood her communication method.

She later got a new teacher who has worked in Perkins Institute and that teacher was Ms. Sullivan. Her method of teaching and pedagogy was interesting and appropriate for Helen Keller. She showed real life objects and give sensory experiences to the child to understand the meaning of words such as doll, water and American Falls. Later she used cards with embossed words.

She learned speaking with the help of another teacher Ms. Sarah Fuller. Helen wrote a story titled "The Frost King" which was published in Perkins. However, she was accused of plagiarism and had to go through the legal proceedings. She later went to college and studied Latin grammar and history of the world. She mingled with girls of her age and despite experiencing problems, learnt a lot through books.
