There are five major hormones which are auxin, cytokinin, gibberellin, abscisic acid, and ethylene. Each hormone differs in its effects. The auxins, gibberellins, and cytokinins act as growth stimulators, whereas, abscisic acid and ethylene act as growth inhibitors.
Role of auxin is - Involved in root growth and apical dominance
Role of Gibberellin is - Involved in shoot growth and breaks seed dormancy
Role of Cytokinin is - Promote cell division; prevent senescence
Role of abscisic acid is - Close the stomata and also maintains dormancy
Role of ethylene is - Fruit ripening
