Current given by the cell -

i=\frac{E}{R+r}

- wherein

R- External resistance

r-  internal resistance

 

V = E - ir =E - \frac{Er}{R+r} = E \left [ \frac{R+r-r}{R+r}\right ]

V =\frac{ER}{(R+r)}=\frac{E}{1+\frac{r}{R}}

\Rightarrow V = 0 \ at \ R = 0

V =E \ at \ R = \infty
