Due to electric field \mathbf{E}  the force on a particle of charge \mathbf{q} is  \mathrm{\mathbf{F}=q \mathbf{E}}  in the direction of the electric field. Since \mathrm{\mathbf{E}}  is parallel to \mathrm{\mathbf{B}} , the velocity \mathrm{\mathbf{v}}  of the particle is parallel to \mathrm{\mathbf{B}}. Hence \mathrm{\mathbf{B}}  will not affect the motion of the particle since \mathrm{\mathbf{v}} \mathrm{\mathbf{\times \mathbf{B}=0}}. Thus, the correct choice is (a).
