If you take resistivity at a distance ‘x’ from left end as\mathrm{\rho=\left(\rho_0+\alpha x\right)}, then electric field intensity at this point will be \mathrm{E=\frac{i P}{A}} where i is the current flowing through the conductor.

Therefore\mathrm{E \propto P \text { and } E(x)=\frac{i}{A}\left(\rho_0+\alpha x\right)}

Hence choice (2).
