The volume of metal is

\\V=\frac{m}{\rho}=\frac{20}{5}\\ V=4 \mathrm{~cm}^3

Loss in weight is

\begin{aligned} \left(V+V^{\prime}\right) \rho_w g&=(20-12) g~~~[(P_w=4 \mathrm{~g} / \mathrm{cm}^3]\\ V+V^{\prime}&=8 \\ V^{\prime}&=8-V \\ V^{\prime}&=8-4 = 4 \mathrm{~cm}^3 \end{aligned}
