The total number of students is 15.

Every student will have an equal chance of winning first place.

The number of ways to win the first prize is 15.

Only 14 of the 15 students are eligible for the second prize. Because one student already won first place. 

The number of ways to win the second prize is 14.

Only 13 of the 15 students are eligible for the second prize. Because the two students have already won first and second place.

The number of ways to win the third prize is 13.

The total number of possibilities is   \mathrm{15\times 14\times 13=2730.}
