decay. If the product nucleus has mass number 227 and atomic number 89, the mass number and atomic number
of element X are:

Option: 1

(273, 93)

Let A and Z be mass number and atomic number of element X.

{ }_{\mathrm{Z}}^{\mathrm{A}} \mathrm{X} \stackrel{\beta^{+}}{\longrightarrow}{ }_{\mathrm{Z}-1}^{\mathrm{A}} \mathrm{Y} \stackrel{2 \alpha}{\longrightarrow}{ }_{\mathrm{Z}-5}^{\mathrm{A}-8} \mathrm{Y}^{\prime}

Since the product nucleus has mass number 227 and atomic number 89.

\therefore \quad A-8=227 \quad \text { or } \quad A=235 \text { and } Z-5=89 \quad \text { or } \quad Z=94
