\vec{M}=m\times2\vec{l}

- wherein

It is a vector quantity directed from south to north.

 

 On bending a rod it's pole strength remains unchanged whereas its magnetic moment changes.

New magnetic moment M' = m (2R) =   m \times \left (\frac{2L}{\pi} \right )  =\frac{2M}{\pi}
