(a) We know that, the eccentricity of x y=k \: \text{for all} \: k \in R \: \text{is}\: \sqrt{2}.

\therefore \quad e_1=\sqrt{2} \text { and also } e_2=\sqrt{2}

Hence,                   e_1-e_2=0
