Let S be the point which divides PQ externally in the ratio 1 : 2. Then the coordinates of S are

x= \frac{1\times (-7)-2\times 2}{1-2}=\frac{-11}{-1}= 11

y= \frac{1\times 4 -2\times 5}{1-2}=\frac{-6}{-1}= 6

i.e. the required point is (11, 6)
