In frankel defect cation or anion or both are missing from their correct lattice site ande occupy the interstitial space so mass of crystal is not affected hence the density of crystal remain same.

Frenkel defect -

Defect in which cation or anion are missing from their  crystal lattice site and occupy the interstitial space is known as frenkel defect .

In this defect density of crystal remains same but conductivity increases and crystal behaves  as p -  type semiconductor.

- wherein

this defect is found in the compound having low coordination number and having significant size difference between cation and anion .

Ex : transition metal halides , CuCl , CuBr , AgBr , AgI , ZnS etc.

Option 1)

Increases

This is incorrect

Option 2)

Decreases

This is incorrect

Option 3)

Remain same

This is correct

Option 4)
