Central Board of Secondary Education will declare the result of JEE Main Paper 1 (B.Tech/B.E.) on April 30 while the result of Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Plan) will be announced on April 31, 2018. The results of both papers will be released online. Based on the obtained score, you will be able to avail admission to 31 NITs, 23 IITs and 20 GFTIs. Last year, a total of 24,323 seats were available for admission. Through the JEE Main result 2018, 2,24,000 candidates will also be selected to appear for JEE Advanced.
The JEE Main result will consist of section-wise marks, total marks obtained, All India Rank of candidate, category rank and more. Ranks will be allotted based on the sum of marks obtained in each subject – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. You can check JEE Main 2018 result by logging in using roll number and date of birth. After logging in, the information will be displayed on screen. It is advisable that you print a copy of the same for future reference.
Score will be calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect responses made. Correct answers will be awarded four marks while one mark will be deducted against incorrect responses. Paper 1 comprises three section – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics while Paper 2 consist of Mathematics, Aptitude test and Drawing. All India Ranks will be allotted on the basis of scores attained in JEE Main 2018. However, category-wise ranks will also be provided for each category. Candidates with better scores will be allotted higher ranks and hence their chances of getting admitted to any one of the participating institutes will increase, so will their possibility of getting a position which will qualify them to appear for JEE Advanced.
Regarding the criteria to break a tie, candidates attaining higher marks in mathematics will be given a higher rank than the other candidate. If tie still persists, than the marks obtained in Physics will be observed and the candidate securing higher marks in the subject will be provided a better rank. In rare cases where the tie still continue to exist, the ratio of correct and incorrect responses made by the candidates will be taken into account and the candidate with higher number of correct responses will be assigned better rank. However, if the resolution is still not clear after applying the above mentioned criteria, same rank will be provided to both the candidates.
