\frac{1}{P_{T}}= \frac{y_{A}}{P_{A}^{0}x_{A}}

P_{T}= Total \: pressure

y_{A},y_{B}=Mole\ fraction\ of A \, and \, B \, in \, vapour \, phase\, respectively

x_{A},x_{B}=Mole\ fraction\ of A \, and \, B \, in \, liquid \, phase\,

P^{0}_{A},P^{0}_{B}\ are\ vapour\ pressure\ of\ pure\ A\ and\ B.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Relationship between mole fraction of a component in the vapour phase and total vapour pressure of an ideal solution.

y_{A}\frac{P_{A}}{P_{total}}=\frac{X_{A}\cdot P_{A}^{0}}{X_{A}.P_{A}^{0}+X_{B}.P_{B}^{0}}

= \frac{1\times 1}{1\times 1+2\times 2}= \frac{1}{1+4}= \frac{1}{5}= 0.2
