Sol : For solution of $f(x)=3$ ,

we see $x-$ coordinates of points of intersection of $y=f(x)$ and $y=3.$

clearly these points are $\left ( -2,3 \right )$ , $\left ( 2,3 \right )$ and $\left ( 4,3 \right )$

so $x=-2,2,4$ are the solution
