For maximum zener diode current, the variable voltage must be max. i.e., \mathrm{120 \mathrm{~V}}

\mathrm{\therefore I(4000)=60 \mathrm{~V} }

\mathrm{I=15 \times 10^{-3} \mathrm{~A}=15 \mathrm{~mA} }

\mathrm{I_L=6 \mathrm{~mA} }

\mathrm{I=I_2+I_L \Rightarrow I_2=9 \mathrm{~mA}}
