The change \mathrm{m} energy for transition from third permitted level to first level

\mathrm{=E_3-E_1 }
\mathrm{=\left(\frac{-13.6}{3^2}\right)-\left(-\frac{13.6}{1^2}\right) }
\mathrm{=-13.6\left(\frac{1}{9}-\frac{1}{1}\right) }
\mathrm{=-13.6\left(\frac{-8}{9}\right)=12.08 \, \mathrm{eV}}

Highest level to 2nd permitted level
\mathrm{=E_{\infty}-E_2}
\mathrm{=0-\left(-\frac{13.6}{2^2}\right)}
\mathrm{=\frac{13.6}{4}=3.4\, \mathrm{eV}}
\mathrm{\text { Ratio }= \frac{13.6 \times 8 \times 4}{13.9 \times 9}=32: 9}
