CO has one sigma bond and two \pi bonds between C and O

Structure of CO

The Molecular orbital configuration is given as 

 \sigma_ {1s}^{2},\sigma ^{*2}_{1s},\sigma_{2s}^{2},\sigma ^{*2}_{2s},\pi _{2px}=\pi_{ 2py},\sigma_ {2pz}^{2}

bond order = \frac{N_{b}-N_{a}}{2}=\frac{10-4}{2}=3

Therefore, option (2) is correct.
