Mixed a freshly prepared FeSO_4 solution and add glacial acetic acid.

NaNO_2 + CH_3COOH\rightarrow CH_3COONa + HNO_2

3HNO_2 \rightarrow 2NO +HNO_3 +H_2O

[Fe(H_2O)_6]SO_4 +NO\rightarrow [Fe(H_2O)_{5}NO]SO_4 +H_2O \:Brown \:ring
