\mathrm{b^2=a^2\left(1-\frac{9}{16}\right)=\frac{7}{16} a^2 }
Then equation is  \mathrm{\frac{16 x^2}{7 a^2}+\frac{y^2}{a^2}=1 } , it passes through (6,4)

\mathrm{\Rightarrow \frac{16 \times 6^2}{7 a^2}+\frac{16}{a^2}=1 \Rightarrow a^2=\frac{688}{7} \\ }
\mathrm{\Rightarrow 16 x^2+7 y^2=688 \text { is ellipse. } }
