The number of ways in which 7 people are seated around a round table is given by,

(7-1)=6!

Thus,

6!=6\times 5\times 4\times 3\times 2

6!=720

The number of ways in which 2 people sit side by side is given by,

5!=5\times 4\times 3\times 2\times 2

5!\times2!=240

Thus, the total number of arrangements is,

6!\--5!\times2!=720-240

6!\--5!\times2!=480

Therefore, the number of ways the arrangements are done in 480 ways.
